What will your session involve?

1. Before the Session

  • Veterinary referral obtained

  • Owner provides horse’s medical & performance history

  • Consent form signed

​2. Static Assessment

  • Visual check of posture & conformation

  • Muscle symmetry & development noted

  • Palpation:

  • Muscle tension

  • Swelling or heat

  • Joint range of motion

  • Hoof condition & balance check (if relevant)

3. Dynamic Assessment

  • Walk & trot in-hand (straight lines & circles)

  • Observe gait, tracking up, rhythm, lameness signs

  • Optional:

    • Lunging

    • Ridden assessment

​4. Functional Testing

  • Carrot stretches or baited exercises

  • Flexion or range-of-motion testing of limbs

  • Weight shifting & proprioception tests

5. Treatment Modalities

  • Manual Therapy:

    • Massage

    • Trigger point release

    • Myofascial release

    • Passive stretching

    • Joint mobilisations

  • Electrotherapies:

    • PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field)

    • Red Light Therapy

  • Other Treatments:

    • Heat or ice application

    • Kinesiology taping (if needed)

    • Fascial work (e.g., scar tissue management)

​6. Exercise Prescription

  • Tailored rehab exercises:

  • Stretching

  • Pole-work

  • Groundwork or lunging

  • Core strengthening

  • Daily/weekly plan provided to owner

​7. Owner Advice

  • Rest & workload recommendations

  • Turnout or stabling adjustments

  • Saddle or tack checks suggested (if needed)

  • Veterinary follow-up (if relevant)

​8. Documentation & Follow-Up

  • Session notes recorded

  • Report sent to vet (if appropriate)

  • Next session booked or recheck advised
